About Disciple.Network
Matthew 13:23-24 (NIV) “The seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
A bit of history… Disciple.Network was created out of both the success and failure of the Discipleship Course. I started the course back in 2020 (on Zoom, during the pandemic) at St Barnabas in Winchester. I wrote it so church members could learn what was needed to work with God and grow a Kingdom work in their lives. It takes the above verse from Matthew 13 very seriously – we might hear the word, but we will never be fruitful if we don’t understand and embed God’s word in our lives.
The course impacted some individuals dramatically (and they continue to use the material even now) and for others it led to a new understanding of what living a Christian life actually means. However, despite its effectiveness many did not use the material beyond the end of the course nor continue to seek their Kingdom work. In fact they struggled even to discover what their Kingdom work was. I realised people needed ongoing, intentional support. A place they could take the time to explore and be encouraged to discover their next steps, learning the tools for growth and embedding them in their lives. This is what Growth Groups aim to achieve.
The Discipleship Course acts as a springboard into a new understanding but Growth Groups are the vehicle to carry people on their journey into discovery and fruitfulness. As the African proverb says: If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together!
This website is a resource – first for people to find out more about the course and the groups; secondly to connect people to the network; thirdly to be a depository of teaching and resources. We want to see individuals and groups move forward in their discipleship and see a crop yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown!
